The Bauer X:40 shin guards offer great protection and a tapered design, that is perfect for players that want a low bulk narrower profile shin guard.
Bauer has given the X40 shin pad a narrower profile than most shin guards on the market from the knee to shin area. The outer shells have a nice ribbed design that increases the overall strength of the pad. Bauer has also used their vent armor material in the calf wrap for good protection while maintaining a lightweight design.
The X40 features the Thermo Max+ liner that offers a great feel and moisture wick properties. This is fully removable liner, which helps for decreasing drying time. Bauer has used their anchor strap that webs across the top of the calf. This is a nice high quality strap that secures most of the pad. At the bottom there is a 1" strap which could have been a little higher to go over the calf wrap.
The X40 is a solid low volume shin guard that offers a good value.
